Tiger Computing Ltd, a leading supplier of Linux support and consultancy services, has a vacancy for a Linux Support Consultant working from our offices in the Wye valley near Monmouth. This is a wide-ranging role that involves working with customers, both on-site and remotely, providing remedial support services and ad-hoc consultancy. The successful candidate will enjoy solving technical problems, will understand how to research problems outside of his or her experience, and will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. The work is approximately 80% office based and 20% at customers' premises. There is no Windows work associated with this role. Key requirements:
the ability to provide excellent customer service
good written and verbal communications skills
a "can do" attitude
TCP/IP skills
Linux system management skills
exposure to common programming/scripting languages
good understanding of common Linux server applications (SMTP, POP3/IMAP, spam and antivirus scanning, Apache, firewalls, Samba, VPNs, databases, etc)

This position is open to anyone legally entitled to work in the UK. Salary is likely to be in the range £25,000 to £35,000 depending on experience, and there is a profit-sharing scheme for employees after an initial period.
